About the Role

The Principal DevOps Engineer will lead the design of world-class infrastructures for data management and computational processing workflows that seamlessly integrates data from computational calculations and wet-lab experiments to enable the rational design of therapeutics.

You will:

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams of computational and medicinal chemists, data and software engineers, biophysicists, and biologists to optimize our computational platform, guide synthesis decisions, and design experiments
  • Define the high-level architecture of the data platform, and create execution plans to implement and deliver the platform
  • Identify data access requirements from various stakeholders, and design effective interfaces to meet those needs
  • Develop and deploy software tools that allow our scientists to easily access, and take full advantage of, experimental data and computational methodologies
  • Ensure the availability, integrity, security and reliability of our data platform
  • Maintain high standards for software engineering practices and platform products

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields with 5+ years relevant industrial experience post-PhD (or MS in one of these fields with 7+ years of related experience)
  • Experience in design and implementation of data platforms that support heterogeneous data types and diverse workloads/dataflows
  • Experience with data warehousing and/or data lake solutions
  • Development experience with big-data technologies, data pipelines, and orchestration tools
  • Strong programming skills in a modern language such as Python and Java
  • Familarity with data science frameworks such as MLflow and Metaflow
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to explain complex ideas to non-specialists

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with data systems that support machine learning workflows and data lifecycle
  • Experience with computational chemistry, chemoinformatics, molecular dynamics simulations, and drug discovery
